The Town of Blacksburg will begin its annual spring cleanup in the northeast quadrant of town on Monday, April 6. It will continue through April 27. Residents are asked to place items curbside by 7 a.m. on the Monday of their scheduled collection. Brush and yard debris are collected one day, and metal, tires, and other bulky items are picked up another day during the week. Residents are asked not to place additional items curbside after everything has been collected.

Items intended for cleanup must be accessible from the public right of way. The town will not enter private property, parking lots or driveways to remove materials. Items placed near mailboxes, water meters, fire hydrants, posts or other obstacles that could be damaged will not be collected. A listing of items permitted for spring cleanup and the schedule for each quadrant’s visit are available at www.blacksburg.gov/cleanup.

About COVID-19

This is a unique time and situation. Residents are reminded that while the Town of Blacksburg is glad to continue this and other services for the community, the safety of the town’s essential personnel and its citizens is paramount. What is heavy, sharp, or dangerous for residents to handle is equally dangerous for town crews. This applies to exposure risks as well. The COVID-19 virus has reminded us all to practice proper hygiene and sanitary practices.

Town personnel ask residents to help them protect you by protecting them.
