Blacksburg Transit now operating on reduced schedule

As of Thursday, April 9, Blacksburg Transit is operating on a modified reduced service schedule in Blacksburg until further notice.

Blacksburg

The hours of operation are Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. until 9:45 p.m.; Saturday: 9:30 a.m. until 9:45 p.m.; Sunday: 11:30 a.m. until 9:45 p.m.

Monday through Friday, during the peak service hours of 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., all routes are in service on 30-minute frequency except CAS (20 min.), CRC (22.5 min.), and TTT (hourly).

The Saturday and Sunday routes will also operate on a 30-minute frequency, except for HDG/HWD (hourly), HXP, MSN/MSS (hourly), TOM via Progress St., UCB, and TTT (hourly). Call-in service is still available on Saturdays.

Christiansburg

Effective this past Monday, April 6, the BT Commuter and Explorer routes were suspended until further notice. Additional service will be added to the Christiansburg Go Anywhere service. Passengers should call 540-443-7111 to schedule trips. Only essential trips will be accepted.

Blacksburg Transit has previously suspended fares on all services and implemented rear-door boarding where possible. Front-door boarding is available for persons with mobility aids and strollers. Passengers who have purchased monthly passes should email btransit@blacksburg.gov to arrange for a refund.

The passenger limit implemented on March 25 remains in effect: 9 passengers on Blacksburg buses, 4 passengers on Christiansburg service and Warm Hearth, 1 passenger (and personal care attendant, if authorized) on BT Access.

Blacksburg Transit is committed to ensuring the safety of our community and our employees. Operating with modified schedules is in addition to cleaning the buses and practicing social distancing within BT’s facilities. BT asks that everyone take only essential trips when necessary.
