Eleven Virginia Tech swimmers this week were named to College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America’s All-American teams for the 2019-20 season.
Sophomores Filippo Dal Maso, Antani Ivanov and Blake Manoff and junior Lane Stone all garnered relay honors, after recording an A standard cut in the 800-free relay during the ACC championships.
Five men swimmers also earned All-American accolades in individual events: Thomas Hallock (Jr.) – 50 Free; Antani Ivanov (So.) – 200 Fly; Blake Manoff (So.) – 100 Fly, 200 Fly; AJ Pouch (Fr.) – 200 Breast; Sam Tornqvist (Jr.) – 200 Back; Noah Zawadzki (So.) – 1-meter, 3-meter, platform.
On the women’s side, three Hokies earned individual accolades after making the cut for the NCAA Championships: Teagan Moravek (So.) – 1-meter, 3-meter; Joelle Vereb (Jr.) – 50 Free, 100 Fly; Regan Westwood (Jr.) – 1-meter.
Because of the cancellation of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, the CSCAA Board adjusted the selection criteria. Swimmers qualified as All-Americans by achieving A Standards and/or being selected to the NCAA Championships. Divers entered in uncontested events from the Zone C Diving Qualification meet, which went unfinished, were also named All-American.
