The Christiansburg Town Council will hold a Public Hearing for the purpose of discussing the Proposed Budget for FY 2020-2021 on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 7 P.M.
Whereas Governor Northam has declared a state of emergency in the Commonwealth of Virginia due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and declared the anticipated effects of COVID-19 to be a disaster within the meaning of Virginia Code § 44-146.16; the meeting will be held by means of electronic communication as authorized by Code of Virginia § 15.2-1413, § 2.2-3708.2(A)(3), Chapter 1283 of the 2020 Acts of Assembly § 4-0.01(g), the Continuity of Government Ordinance passed by Christiansburg Town Council on March 24, 2020, and all other applicable authority.
The Public shall have access to the meeting through live streaming as set forth below, and may submit comments by any of the following means:

- By voicemail at (540) 382-6128 ext. 1109.
- By mail to Town Hall, ATTN: Town Council (please allow adequate mailing time).
- By using the Town Hall drop box and labeling your comments for ATTN: Town Council.
In order for Town Council to receive submitted comments prior to the May 26 meeting and for the comments to be reflected in the minutes, comments must be submitted by 6 P.M. on May 26 via any of the methods listed above. You may also sign up to speak live during the meeting through means of electronic communication at www.christiansburg.org/publichearings.
The real estate tax rate will remain 16 cents per $100 of assessed value and the Personal Property tax rate will remain at 45 cents per $100 of assessed value. There are no proposed increases in water, sewer or storm water rates and no proposed fee increases. Due to COVID-19 revenues have been reduced as well as expenses.
