Downtown Blacksburg Inc. (DBI) presents a virtual, online celebration of Summer Solstice Festival 2020 today, Saturday, June 20.
This event in its traditional form was cancelled due to COVID-19, but DBI is bringing a more simplistic version online for people to still celebrate the change of season and everything about downtown Blacksburg.

The virtual, online celebration will include Facebook live performances by local artists and musicians Saturday afternoon and evening. Musicians will perform according to the following schedule: PanJammers Steel Drum Orchestra, performing at 3 p.m. at the Blacksburg Farmers Market; Daniel Davis, performing at 4 p.m. at the Blacksburg Tavern; Leigh Harless, performing at 5 p.m. at Gillies; Barren Minds, performing at 6 p.m. at Cabo Fish Taco; Dr. Moon, performing at 7 p.m. at Sugar Magnolia; and Wicked Phat, performing at 8 p.m. in front of the Milk Parlor.
The festival will also feature an online marketplace that houses and promotes local arts and crafts vendors offering deals and discounts to their works of art and downtown merchant specials and deals that you would normally see at restaurants and stores during the festival.
According to Downtown Blacksburg, Inc., the website will continue to get updated as more vendors, specials, and deals are added right up to the start of the festival.
The street musician) represent the local talent right here in the New River Valley. These musicians will play live in Downtown Blacksburg and will be broadcasted via Facebook live for folks watching from home. DBI encourages folks to come downtown to stop and listen for a few minutes while waiting for take-out or curbside food delivery. Please adhere to proper social distancing guidelines.
