Abigail C. Klink

On Friday, June 12, at 4:00 p.m., Radford City police officers responded to the 100 block of Second Street in Radford for a citizen’s service call regarding a “stolen vehicle.”

Officers met with a male complainant and discovered him to be an employee of a locally based rental car company. He reported that a female, Abigail C. Klink, 23, of Freedom, N.Y., had attempted to lease a vehicle after her vehicle had broken down in Radford. After Klink’s rental contract was declined by the leasing company, the complainant/employee gave Klink a ride to her vehicle.

During this time, Klink assaulted the employee by climbing over the vehicle’s center console, placing the vehicle into ‘park,’ and striking him with a closed fist twice in the head. A physical altercation ensued while the victim tried to exit the vehicle. His cellular phone was damaged. He was able to get out of the vehicle as it fled with Klink driving.

The ensuing investigation located Klink at her broken-down vehicle’s location where she was arrested for carjacking (Va. Code Section 18.2-58.1), grand larceny of a motor vehicle (section 18.2-95), destruction of private property (section 18.2-137) and assault and battery (section 18.2-57).

She was remanded to the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond. The stolen vehicle was returned to its owner. The victim was treated at the scene by Radford Fire and EMS.
