As of Monday July 6, the second-phase road closure and traffic control plan has been implemented for work on the Virginia Tech Foundation – North End Development Project. In Blacksburg.

Turner Street will remain closed from Prices Fork to the intersection of Gilbert Street. In addition, Gilbert Street will be closed from the Turner Street intersection to the entrance of the parking garage.

The closure is to install new public infrastructure to support the site plan and future building construction. Drivers should watch for detour signs and for access points on Gilbert Street and east of the closure on Turner Street.

Portions of the on-street parking along the east side of Gilbert Street will be temporarily closed. The sidewalk along the east side of Gilbert Street will remain open to provide pedestrian access to and from Turner Street.

The closure is the second of four phases of construction needed for the project. Phase Two is anticipated to take six weeks when Phase Three is expected to be implemented.
