Shannon Maxey
Shannon Maxey, vice president and deposit operations manager for Virginia Community Capital, Inc., on Peppers Ferry Road in Christiansburg, was among the 60 Virginia bankers who graduated Friday from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management.
Those receiving diplomas completed three one-week sessions with extension problems between the first and second years and a comprehensive third-year bank simulation exercise.
Graduates like Maxey broadened their knowledge in all respects of banking, economics and related subjects.
The three-year school is sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association in cooperation with the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and was held virtually this year for the first time in its 82-year history.
“We are proud of the resilience the 60 bankers who graduated showed this year,” said Bruce Whitehurst, President and CEO of the Virginia Bankers Association, about this year’s graduating
Class. “These students have developed a range of skills that will enhance their current performance and qualify them as potential candidates for advancement within their institutions. The connections they have made with other students will benefit them both personally and professionally for years to come.”
