A Big South-record six baseball programs have been recognized for their achievements in the classroom with the 2019-20 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award.
Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Longwood, Presbyterian, Radford and Winthrop were recognized with this year’s award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2019-20 academic year. The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award was created following the 2015-16 season.
The six programs were among the 67 NCAA Division I programs recognized with a record 431 college and high school teams receiving this year’s award.
Gardner-Webb has been honored each year of the award’s existence while Campbell has been honored for the second consecutive year. Longwood, Presbyterian, Radford and Winthrop are first-time honorees.
