The Atlantic Coast Conference and Virginia Tech have released the 2020 schedule for the volleyball team.

The season will last five weeks spanning from Sept. 17-Oct. 18. The Hokies will take on four ACC rivals resulting in eight conference matches and one non- conference contest to open the 2020 campaign.

Tech will begin its year hosting The Citadel on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. with coverage available through the ACC Network inside Cassell Coliseum.

Conference play will then begin for the Hokies as they play host to North Carolina on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. with coverage available through the ACC Network and Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum. Tech defeated North Carolina 3-2 in the regular-season finale of 2019 in a five-set thriller.

The Hokies will then hit the road at the beginning of October to face off against North Carolina State on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. inside the James T. Valvano Arena at William Neal Reynolds Coliseum.

Tech will finish off its away matches against the Duke Blue Devils with a pair of outings on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. and Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

To conclude the fall 2020 slate, the Hokies will go up against Virginia on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m. inside Cassell Coliseum. The final match of the season against Virginia will be covered by the ACC Network.

Tech returns three seniors, four juniors and five sophomores and adds seven newcomers with five of those student-athletes being freshmen. The Hokies will have three graduate students suiting up this season, including returning starter Kaity Smith.

With head coach Marci Byers entering her first season in Blacksburg, the Hokies begin a new era and look for a successful fall slate both on and off the court.
