BLACKSBURG — Three Hokies, running back Khalil Herbert, offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw and defensive lineman Emmanuel Belmar, earned ACC Player of the Week recognition following the Hokies’ 38-31 victory at Duke last Saturday.

Running back Khalil Herbert set a VT record Saturday with 357 all-purpose yards.

Herbert won both Running Back and Specialist of the Week while Darrisaw was named Co-Offensive Lineman and Belmar garnered the first Defensive Lineman recognition of his career.

Herbert totaled 357 all-purpose yards in the game, a new program record for the Hokies. He also became the first Tech player in history to post 100+ rushing yards and 100+ kick return yards in the same game.

Herbert averaged more than 10 yards per carry as he registered 207 yards on the ground against the Blue Devils, finding the end zone two times. His 207-yard output was tied for the fifth-best total in a single game in Virginia Tech history. He also returned three kickoffs for 150 yards, including an 83-yard effort setting up a crucial Tech touchdown.

Herbert now leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in all-purpose yards per game (276.5) and rushing (156.0 ypg).

Left tackle Christian Darrisaw led a push that rolled up 324 yards with four rushing touchdowns against Duke.

Tech registered 324 yards and four rushing touchdowns. The Hokies gained 6.5 yards per attempt on 50 rushes in the game with 16 first downs.

DL Emmanuel Belmar had a career-best three sacks at Duke totaling 17 yards in losses. The Hokies’ defensive front held the Blue Devils to just 139 yards rushing and 3.8 yards per attempt.
