Big South announces 2020-21 women’s soccer, men’s soccer and volleyball schedules

RADFORD, Va. – The Big South Conference announced its 2020-21 women’s soccer, men’s soccer and volleyball schedules Thursday afternoon. Each schedule will begin in February and end in April.

All regular-season and conference tournament schedules, times, dates and opponents are subject to change. Radford Athletics is currently evaluating multiple spectator attendance models per state, university and health guidelines for the 2020-21 season. Additional information will be provided at a later date.

Women’s Soccer

The women’s soccer slate features nine Big South matches, which begin on Feb. 21 and end on April 8. Five of the nine conference contests will be held inside Cupp Stadium. In addition to the nine conference tilts, teams will be permitted to play up to two (2) non-conference/exhibition matches starting Feb. 14.

The Highlanders have scheduled one non-conference match on Feb. 14, at Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. The conference also had a “floating” midweek match, which a date was determined by the two schools. Radford drew UNC Asheville for the midweek match and it will be played on Wednesday, March 10 at Greenwood Soccer Field.

The Big South Women’s Soccer Championship semifinals and finals will be held the week of April 12-18, with those dates to be determined at a later time. The top four teams in the final conference standings will advance to the Big South Women’s Soccer Championship, which will be hosted by the higher seeded team throughout. The champion receives the Big South’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

Feb. 14 — at Marshall

Feb. 21 – at Presbyterian

Feb. 28 – USC Upstate

March 7 – Campbell

March 10 – at UNC Asheville

March 14 – at Gardner-Webb

March 21 – Charleston Southern

March 28 – High Point

April 3 – Longwood

April 8 – at Winthrop

Men’s Soccer

The men’s soccer schedule features eight Big South matches, which begin on Feb. 21 and end on April 8. The Highlanders will host four contests inside Cupp Stadium this year. In addition to the eight conference bouts, teams will be permitted to play up to three (3) non-conference/exhibition matches starting Feb. 14.

The schedule features a “floating” mid-week match that will be scheduled during the first half of the season and no later than March 17. The Highlanders will host UNC Asheville for the floating mid-week, and the date will be determined by the two schools at a later date.

The Big South Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals and finals will be held the week of April 12-18, with those dates to be determined at a later time. The top four teams in the final conference standings will advance to the Big South Men’s Soccer Championship, which will be hosted by the higher seeded team throughout. Volleyball

The volleyball schedule features a 16-match double round-robin slate spanning nine weeks from Feb. 4 to April 2, with contests scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays against the same opponent at the same location. Eight of the 16 matches will be held inside the Dedmon Center.

This year’s schedule format has been adjusted to limit travel and help ensure the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and staff. Contingencies were built into the schedule to allow flexibility for completing the season in full. With matches currently scheduled one week apart, adjustments can be made to accommodate any facility conflicts or interruptions.

This year’s regular-season champion will earn the Big South’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

Feb. 4-5 – Gardner-Webb

Feb. 11-12 – Charleston Southern

Feb. 18-19 – Presbyterian

Feb. 25-26 – at High Point

March 11-12 – at UNC Asheville

March 18-19 – Winthrop

March 25-26 – at USC Upstate

April 1-2 – at Campbell
