First graders at McHarg Elementary School recently had a virtual visit by NASA Engineer Dr. Tracie Prater from the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. The visit ended the first graders’ two-week story of space with this virtual field trip. First-grader Abe Waff said he learned from the visit, “Animals have been sent to space. Even the moon. Tardigrades are the only animals that can live in space.” The first-grade teachers and students look forward to more such virtual field trips in the future.
