The Christiansburg Town Council Tuesday night unanimously appointed longtime member Henry Showalter to serve as vice mayor. He will serve the next year in the capacity.
The Christiansburg native had previously served as vice-mayor from 2014-2015.
The council also used the first meeting of 2022 to reorganize, keeping the second and fourth Tuesdays as its meeting dates.
Mayor Michael Barber also announced appointments of council members to town and regional commissions and town committees.
Three new council members were welcomed on board. Casey Jenkins, Tim Wilson, and Tanya Hockett were elected to four-year terms.
