Christiansburg brought home three Region D wrestling wins Saturday. Parker Ferrell claimed the 220 championship while Aiden LaComa was the 285 heavyweight winner, and Luke Robie took the 152 weight class.
But it wasn’t enough as Staunton River took the team title with 244 points. Lord Botetourt was second with 222, and Christiansburg finished third with 192.5 points.
Two Blue Demons were runners-up. Jake Baier (160), J.J. Pociask (170), Evan Mefford (120), Jacob Manieri (138), and Bowman Altizer (182) gave the former region champ third places. They all will compete at this week’s state tournament at the Salem Civic Center.
Meanwhile Radford will send three wrestlers to the State Class 2 event in Salem. Dawson Martin (182) and Charlie Davis (220) claimed regional titles. Taven Williams (152) finished second for the Bobcats.
