Responding to around 1,200 emergency calls on the Blacksburg campus in a typical year, the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad performs the same functions as that of a municipal rescue squad. Its members also provide emergency medical services at major university and athletic events, manage the AED program on the Blacksburg campus, and offer ongoing health and safety-related training — such as Stop the Bleed — for the university community.
