Radford High School is advertising for a new girls’ head basketball coach after Timothy Worles stepped down late last week.

A full-time minister at Calvary Baptist Church, Worles had served as an assistant before taking the head coach’s role this past year. He said he made the decision to step down for his family and ministry.

“When you say yes to one thing, you always say no to another. It was getting to where I was saying no too much to my family and ministry,” Worles said in an email.

“It was the hardest decision I’ve had to make,” he said. “I love the girls in our program and the direction we were heading. I envy the next coach and hope he can stay long-term. The girls deserve it.”

Worles’s wife, Hannah-Kait, served as an assistant coach but recently had the couple’s first child.

Worles played for Rick Cormany’s 2011 state championship team while his wife won the championship the same year as a member of the Lady Bobcats.

This past season, the Lady Cats were 15-7 losing in the second round of the state playoffs to Gate City.
