The upcoming pancake and sausage breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery County-Blacksburg is just one of the club’s fundraisers that combine to support a number of the club’s projects each year, including donating to the Montgomery County Christmas Store, stocking food pantries at two elementary schools, purchasing gifts for 40 Salvation Army Christmas Angels, and donating to the Women’s Resource Center.Photo submitted by Jerry Jones

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery County-Blacksburg will hold a pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. 11:00 AM in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church’s Whisner Building.

The cost is $8.00 per person, and tickets can be purchased at the door.

The motto of Kiwanis is serving the children of the world one child and one community at a time. The Montgomery Co.-Blacksburg Kiwanis Club meets every Thursday for lunch at Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg with a program from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The club stocks food pantries at two elementary schools for 4- and 5-year-old students and provides funds for 10 classrooms to buy books for students to read, for ID kits for parents of newborn and young children. The club also donates to the Montgomery County Christmas Store, purchases gifts for 40 Salvation Army Christmas Angels, donates to Scouts BSA, Boys/Girls State, county child abuse and foster care, the Women’s Resource Center, and the Salvation Army.

Providing much of the money for all these projects is the club’s signature fundraiser, its June gold tournament, which had the following sponsors/supporters: Moog and Poly-Scientific,

Employees Federal Credit Union, McCoy Funeral Home, Green Valley Builders, Blacksburg Pharmacy, InMotion, Next Home NRV-Sam Linkenhoker, M & T Development, Castle Rock Insurance, United Country Realty, National Bank, Blacksburg True Value, Electrical Supply, Brown Insurance, State Farm, Clinton’s Transfer & Storage, Ameriprise Financial, Edward Jones Financial, Mike Eggleston/Coldwell Banker Townside, Ewing Remodeling, Shear Artistry, and numerous individuals.
