BLACKSBURG, VA LewisGale Hospital Montgomery announced plans to expand the delivery of women’s care services at the hospital as well as an additional $1 million in capital improvements at the facility during the opening of its newly renovated Women’s Center canopy entrance. The hospital recently completed construction on the entrance, which features beautiful columns, metal roofing, and stone architecture.
“For many women, having a baby is their first experience in a hospital. We see obstetrics as a way to introduce these mothers and their families to the HCA Healthcare way of patient care,” said Devin Tobin, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery chief operating officer. “We are committed to equipping our providers with the resources they need to ensure that it is a wonderful patient experience.”
During the event, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery chief executive officer Lauren Dudley also welcomed Steven Berliner, MD, a new board-certified and fellowship-trained physician with LewisGale Physicians Women’s Health Specialists serving obstetrics and gynecology (Ob/Gyn) patients in Blacksburg . The hospital is also adding midwifery services for women who desire less medical intervention during low-risk pregnancy, labor, and birth using a nurse-midwife supported by Ob/Gyn physicians.
“We are embarking on a new era at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery and evolving our portfolio of maternity services,” said Dudley. “The appointment of Dr. Berliner, who brings a proven track record in women’s maternal health and the addition of our midwifery services, will add depth to women’s care at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery.”
