Nonviolent activist, storyteller, and author George Lakey will speak in Blacksburg on Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
He will be speaking about his efforts since the 1960s to the present to promote civil rights and
social/environmental/climate justice from the perspective of nonviolent revolution as well as on his memoir, Dances with History, and on his latest book, How We Win.
Lakey will speak from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the New River Valley, 1301 Gladewood Dr. in Blacksburg. The event is free and is open to the public.

Lakey is an 85-year-old Quaker who has been a constant force in successfully promoting the non-violent revolution movement from the 1960s to the present. He is a storyteller and lecturer who will encourage audience engagement to transmit his message of positive change through peaceful actions.
