BLACKSBURG – Carlan Myers, Warm Hearth Village (WHV) Human Resources Director has been named President-Elect for 2023 for the New River Chapter (NRV) of the Society of Human Resource Managers. (SHRM). SHRM has more than 300,000 human resource and business executive members in 165 countries.

The NRV chapter was founded in Blacksburg in 1971, serves the New River Valley, and has more than 100 members from an array of business, government, and university professionals. The chapter supports two student SHRM chapters at Radford University and Virginia Tech. Myers said he looks forward to “the networking and professional relationships he can develop through the organization.”

Myers joined Warm HearthVillage in July 2022, and he was asked by the state board to step in as President for 2023 after he told them he wanted to help the NRV chapter any way he could. Myers comes to WHV from Trio Health where he was Vice President of Human Resources.

He has been instrumental in helping the village increase staffing levels as well as leading the village’s employee engagement efforts to help ensure satisfaction and retention.

“I absolutely love this village and our residents and employees. I feel very blessed to be a part of this family,” Myers said.
