BLACKSBURG – The YMCA at Virginia Tech invites families to celebrate YMCA’S 31st annual Healthy Kids Day.

Healthy Kids Day is the nation’s largest health-focused day for children, hosted in nearly 2,000 YMCA’s across the country. “True to our mission of advocating youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the YMCA at Virginia Tech is committed to improving the health and well-being of families through active play and educational activities,” the announcement reads. “The primary goal of Healthy Kids Day® is to develop a sense of health and well-being, especially that of children, within the local community. Here at the YMCA at Virginia Tech, HKD provides a great opportunity for you to learn about the resources available to help plan and prepare an engaging summer for your kids. As a child grows and fulfills their true potential, we believe they will make the world a better place for everyone. When a child is healthy, happy, motivated, and excited, something amazing is inevitably going to result.”

Along with Healthy Kids Day, the YMCA will also be having its Fabulous 4Miler at 9 a.m. and a one-mile Fun Run at 10:30 a.m. Register for these races at https://vtymca.org/healthy-kids-day/.

Healthy Kids Day is a free “super kick-off” event consisting of music, games, healthy snacks, crafts, and educational activities for families. Local organizations will also be promoting various summer programs and activities that are perfect for kids. The event is today, April 29, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and will be located on the field and tennis courts between Cassell Coliseum and the YMCA Lancaster House on Washington St. Blacksburg. The rain date for the event will be April 30. All parents must check-in with volunteers at the registration desk. Free parking is available on campus during the weekend. “So, come on out to this free event where all families are welcome!”
