Find out about a project to improve pedestrian safety
at the intersection of North Franklin Street (Route 460
Business) and Laurel Street in Christiansburg. The
project entails adding pedestrian signals and two
crosswalks to the intersection and constructing
approximately 280 linear feet of sidewalk next to the
eastbound lane of North Franklin Street to connect to
an existing section of sidewalk.
In addition, a pedestrian refuge island also will be
constructed in the median of North Franklin Street.
Curb and gutter and drainage improvements are also
included in the project.

If your concerns cannot be satisfied, VDOT is willing
to hold a public hearing. You may request that a
public hearing be held by sending a written request to
Mr. Jason Patrick, Virginia Department of
Transportation, 731 Harrison Avenue, Salem, VA
24153, on or prior to August 17, 2023. If a request for
a public hearing is received, notice of date, time and
place of the hearing will be posted.
