The Marshall and Radford University men’s basketball team will square off at the iconic Greenbrier resort. The contest will be played Friday at 7 p.m. inside the resort’s largest ballroom, Colonial Hall.
Limited tickets for this historic event — the first college basketball game played at America’s Resort —can be purchased through RadfordTickets.com. Ticket prices are $88 for courtside and $47 for general admission. Student tickets — available only to current students of Marshall University or Radford University — will also be $47, but each student section will have a reserved baseline location.
Two years ago, basketball came to The Greenbrier for the first time, as the Battle for the Springhouse — which included top boys and girls high school teams from throughout West Virginia — joined golf, football, tennis, boxing, wrestling, lacrosse and others on the list of premier sporting events staged at America’s Resort.
Now, Intersport and The Greenbrier are taking the hoops experience to a new level with an early season college basketball clash. It will be border battle, as Marshall and head coach Dan D’Antoni represent the state of West Virginia against Radford and head coach Darris Nichols, a former West Virginia University point guard, representing the state of Virginia. The energy promises to be something special as the teams hit the hardwood in front of a packed venue.
This event is part of a long-term partnership between The Greenbrier and Intersport that will annually bring a major college basketball multi-team event to America’s Resort. Dates, teams and television partners for future events will be announced at a later date.
