Suzie and Lester Karlin present gift cards totaling $1975.00 to Amy Webb with the Montgomery County Department of Social Services from the residents at The Villas at Peppers Ferry in Christiansburg. The gift cards enable the Montgomery County Dept. of Social Services to provide 25 to 30 families with a complete Thanksgiving meal. The Villas at Peppers Ferry is a 148-unit condominium complex located at 30 Patriot Way. The community has a history of providing assistance to the Dept of Social Services. Traditionally they provide “Back to School” backpacks containing school supplies in addition to the Thanksgiving holiday meals. Suzie and Lester Karlin coordinate the drives annually. In previous years residents provided actual boxes filled with frozen turkeys and all the trimmings, but COVID changed all of that. Now D.S.S. staff do the actual shopping followed by delivery to those in need.
