What better way to enjoy the first day of the holiday break than getting slimy!
Montgomery County school children enjoyed making Grinch Slime at Meadowbrook Public Library in Shawsville on Dec. 21.
All materials were provided by the library and stations managed by staff and volunteers as youngsters, excited about the holiday break, enjoyed making colored slime. The ingredients call for ¼ cup of water, ¼ cup of glue, green food coloring and glitter (optional), stir mixture for at least 30 seconds, and add in 2.5 tablespoons of liquid starch.
For the Grinch, a heart was essential to include in the ingredients, a tiny plastic heart!
Rebecca Ghoorahoo with her mom, Leslie Ghoorahoo, stopped in at the library for a little slimy fun.
Nine-year-old Rebecca was excited to take some time to get a little messy at the library before preparing for family Christmas events. She had some tips on the colorful concoction to share though.
“If you want a mess, add glitter,” Ghoorahoo said.
As far as Christmas wishes, Ghoorahoo was very excited to visit her grandma for the holiday season and did not have any big requests from Santa this year.
“I’m happy, I have everything,” Ghoorahoo said.
Wow, I think the Grinch’s heart just grew three sizes.

According to their webpage, the Montgomery-Floyd Libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 27 and 28. Additionally, the library will not be open on Jan. 1, 2024.
