Marie Dillon Bland, 100, of Wake Forest, N.C. passed away peacefully Mar. 10, 2024.  She was born Dec. 21, 1923, to Hampton Hobert Dillon and Margie Ruth Albert Dillon. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Walter Bland, Jr., sister Margaret Jewel Dillon Croy and brothers Elmer Austin Dillon, William Eugene Dillon and Esley Neil Dillon.  Survivors include her daughter Donna Bland Burrows (Mike) of Wake Forest, N.C., son James Dillon Bland (Barbara) of Pawleys Island, S.C., sister-in-law June Hollandsworth of Fairlawn, Va. along with five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Marie was the best mother ever, and amazing caregiver to her husband Jim during his later years and a doting grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted, active member of the Blacksburg Christian Church and Belmont Christian Church as well as a charter member of the Blacksburg Women’s Club.

Visitation and services will be held at the McCoy Funeral Home Mar. 14, 2024. Visitation will be 1- 2 p.m. and services will be 2- 3 p.m., presided by James Terry, followed by interment at the West View Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Montgomery County Christmas Store.
