Robert “Sonny” Thomas Stewart, Jr., 81, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Thomas, Sr. and Pearl Kesterson Stewart; his wives, Nancy Gardner Stewart and Janice Fleenor Stewart; and his sister, Josephine Sandy.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Jennifer Stewart; daughter, Lori Sharp; grandchildren, Will Stewart and Molly Stewart; great-granddaughter, Madeline Webber; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and B.F. Beasley, and Barbara Bond; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Barbara Stewart; caregiver, Reba Crawford; and many other family members and friends.
Sonny enjoyed being in the presence of his friends whether it be playing golf or poker. He was a bright light (hence the nickname), and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Per his request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The Stewart family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
