Ratcliffe, Essie Irene Wade

Essie Irene Wade Ratcliffe, 105, of Radford, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, April 6, 2024. 

She was born in Floyd County March 26, 1919, to the late Charlie Lee Wade and Leona Harriet Dulaney Wade. She was the widow of the late Rev. Paul E. Ratcliffe. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Carrie Phillips, Ola Cox, Velma Reed, and India Goad; and brother, Denver Wade.

Essie was a member of the West Radford Church of God since 1964. She worked at Kenrose and the box factory until about 70 years of age. After retirement, she then went back and received her high school diploma, a Graduate of Biblical Studies, and a Doctorate Degree in Biblical Studies.

Survivors include two special nieces, Barbara Farmer (Dallas) of Riner, and Bessie McCormick (Howard) of Dublin; nephew, Denton Reed of Dublin; and she was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Commonwealth Senior Living Radford and Medi-Hospice for the loving care given to Essie.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the West Radford Church of God, 1824 West Main St., Radford, Virginia 24141.

The family received friends Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services followed with Pastor Danny Newman officiating. Interment followed in West View Cemetery in Radford.

The Ratcliffe family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
