SHAWSVILLE – A wildfire in the Fishers View Road area in Shawsville caused residents in the area to temporarily evacuate the area, but the fire has since been contained.
The fire began on Saturday and was extinguished on Sunday. The Virginia Department of Forestry worked with local firefighter crews from Elliston, Christiansburg, Blacksburg, Riner, Floyd and Pulaski on the wildfire, located in the 4300 block of Fishers View Road. The Virginia Department of Forestry also reported the fire had grown to 250 acres before it was contained. No homes or structures were lost in the fire.
