Virginia Tech outfielder Cori McMillan has been named Softball America’s Player of the Month, the outlet announced Wednesday morning.

The junior earned the honor after posting 25 RBIs and nine home runs in the month of April.

McMillan recorded a batting average of .432, 19 hits, and a 1.114 SLG % over the last 14 games for Tech. On April 23rd, against UVA, McMillan hit the Hokies’ 101st homer of the season to break the program’s team single-season home run record. The next day against Marshall, she went four-for-four with four RBIs and two home runs. In Tech’s sole win against Syracuse last Saturday, McMillan went yard for the 20th time this season, becoming the program’s single-season home run leader.

McMillan currently owns a 10-game hit streak and has posted a home run in four of the last five games. She is ranked second in the ACC with a .904 SLG percentage and 60 RBIs. Throughout conference play, she has recorded 10 home runs and is a perfect 12-for-12 on stolen bases.

McMillan transferred to Tech after spending her freshman year at neighboring Radford University that included being named to the Big South Freshman team.
