RADFORD – Two members of Radford High School’s wrestling team will represent Virginia at the 2024 USA Wrestling National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota in July.
Maggie Page and Taven Williams have earned spots on the Virginia National Team.
Williams was the 2024 2A state champion for Radford High School at 157-pounds. He finished his 2023-24 high school season with a record of 37-1 and has a high school career record of 94-12. Williams has been competing in multiple tournaments since February and has earned a place on the National Duals team at 165-pounds for Virginia. He has also qualified into the individual tournament.
Page was a trailblazer when she joined the Radford High School wrestling team two years ago. Page finished third place in the 2024 VHSL women’s championship. She had a 2023-24 high school season record of 22-2 and an overall career record of 29-8. Page has also been competing in tournaments since February and qualified to compete in the junior girls national individual tournament.
Head RHS Wrestling Coach Dwayne Martin said the two wrestlers put effort in year-round to get where they are.
“Maggie and Taven are fierce competitors and strive their very best in every match,” said Martin. “They put in a huge amount of effort year-round. We are so proud of their accomplishments not only here locally but as representatives for Virginia.”
