NEWBERN– The Calfee Community and Cultural Center is partnering with the Wilderness Road Regional Museum, the Pulaski County Library system, and Thriving Families Pulaski to put on a Pulaski County Juneteenth Celebration.

The event will take place Sunday, June 16, 2 – 5 p.m., at the Wilderness Road Regional Museum at 5240 Wilderness Road in Newbern. Admission is free and the entire community is invited to participate.

During the celebration, various activities will be available to attendees, including storytelling, children’s book giveaways and other activities, cake bingo, a cornbread eating contest, and more. Local musician Earl White will perform and share information about African American influences in country and bluegrass music. Other performers will include the Kuumba Dance Group and the DrumBeats.

The Wilderness Road Regional Museum and Calfee Community and Cultural Center are also raffling off four items – a vintage handmade quilt (circa 1942-45), an antique handmade banjo, a one-night stay at the Inn at Foster Falls, and a handwoven large basket. Anyone can purchase raffle tickets online at www.galabid.com/juneteenth2024 or in person at the event.

For more information about the event and about Juneteenth as a holiday, visit www.calfeeccc.org/juneteenth.
