SHAWSVILLE – Independence Day is just around the corner and there is still time to sign up to participate in the annual Shawsville Ruritan Club’s 4th of July Parade.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m. and if you are interested in participating, please call Barnett Carr at 540-951-1656, or email bcarr@vt.edu. Parade participants will line up between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. near E&E Auto on Rt. 460 in Shawsville. There will be classic cars, sports teams, churches, marching bands, livestock, businesses and more are welcome.
After the parade, there will be a concert with Big Daddy Ray and special guest Jerry Wimmer before the Independence Day fireworks show. There will also be a car show by E&E Automotive and a cornhole tournament by Shawsville Ruritan Club during the in-field concert festivities.
The Shawsville Ruritan’s will host the 4th of July Cornhole Tournament, sponsored by First Bank and Trust, on Old Town Fields at 6 p.m. The winning team will be awarded $150, registration fee is $40 per two-person team, and the deadline to register is July 1.
