Town of Christiansburg – Roanoke St. Crossing and Sidewalk & Roanoke St./Depot St. Pedestrian Accommodations

Find out about the proposal to install pedestrian activated crosswalk signals and curb ramps for the crossing of Roanoke Street at Depot Street. Sidewalk will also be extended along the south side of Roanoke Street to Barkwood Street as well as along the north side of Roanoke Street from Depot Street to the existing sidewalk on the adjacent property to the east.

 

Review the project information and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents in the form of a Programmatic Categorical Exclusion online at www.christiansburg.org/479/Capital-Projects. To request a hard copy of the project information sheet and related documents, please call the Engineering Department at (540) 382-6120.

 

In compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 106 and 36 CFR Part 800, information concerning the potential effects of the proposed project on properties listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places is provided in the Programmatic Categorical Exclusion.

 

Questions and concerns regarding these projects can be addressed to Ms. Grace Byrd, EIT, by phone at 540-382-6120 x1121 or by email at gbyrd@christiansburg.org. If your concerns cannot be satisfied, the Town of Christiansburg is willing to hold a public hearing. You may request that a public hearing be held by sending a written request to Ms. Grace Byrd, EIT, Town of Christiansburg, 100 East Main Street, Christiansburg, VA  24073, on or prior to January 22, 2025. If a request for a public hearing is received, notice of date, time and place of the hearing will be posted.
