MONTGOMERY COUNTY- The Montgomery County School Board has appointed their chair, vice chair, clerk and deputy clerk for a year long term until the next School Board elections.
Board Chair Linwood Hudson was reelected during the board’s Jan. 7, 2025 meeting. The new Vice Chair is Laura Purcell. Former Vice Chair Jamie M. Bond shared kind words to Hudson and advice to the rest of the board, saying, “Until you’ve been a chair or a vice chair, you really don’t realize the work that goes into it. You know last year being vice chair, and that is really nothing compared to what chair does, and it was a lot just going to the meetings and going to the joint meetings. And even though I enjoyed them all, it was a lot, especially when you’re working full-time and trying to manage your home life as well. So, I definitely applaud you being willing to do it again. None of us are perfect. None of us do this job perfect. I thought I wanted it last year and after I got into vice and saw what you had to do, he can tell you, I was just absolutely like “oh my gosh. I’m so sorry. Thank you for doing it. I don’t want any of it.” It’s a lot, a lot of thankless hours and a lot of work, and I appreciate you being willing to do it and if the vote goes next, whoever gets vice chair I appreciate what they’re willing to do too because it’s not easy.”
“I’ll just add,” Hudson said, “since there wasn’t a comment period earlier, I definitely appreciate the votes for chair. Certainly it was a lot of work last year but I’ve also really enjoyed the time to work with all of you, and I appreciate your support and the opportunity to continue to work with you as your chair.”
Tosh Osbourne was reelected to be Clerk of the Board and Superintendent Dr. Bernard Bragen was elected to be Deputy Clerk in the instance that Osbourne cannot fulfill their duties. Both elected positions serve for a year long term and will be up for reelection in 2026, similar to the chair and vice chair positions.
