Mary Lois Elder Lanier, 79, of Fairlawn, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025. She was a longtime educator at both New River Community College and Virginia Western Community College. Lois loved her garden, her roses, her houseplants and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Edward and Ruth Fox Elder.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wren Lanier (Phil); granddaughter, Grey; former husband, Parks Lanier; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Elder (Joyce); nephews and their spouses, Mark Elder (Libby) and Scott Elder (Donna); and many other relatives and special friends.
Per her request, no services will be held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Francis Service Dogs, P.O. Box 19538, Roanoke, VA, 24019.
The Lanier family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
