The Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste event at their facility, located at 555 Authority Drive, Christiansburg, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.

This event is by appointment only. Please call 540-381-2820 to schedule an appointment. This event is open to all residents of Montgomery County. No commercial waste or commercial vehicles will be permitted. This program is sponsored by MRSWA.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any unwanted household product labeled as flammable, toxic, corrosive, or reactive. The most common products include aerosols, anti-freeze, fertilizers, motor oil, paint supplies, photo chemicals, poisons, and solvents. No electronics, batteries, or paper shredding. Unusable latex paint should be dried in its can using kitty litter or sand. Once dry, the entire can should be disposed of in the trash.

For examples of materials to bring and not to bring to the event, please visit www.blacksburg.gov/householdhazardouswaste. For more information, contact Morgan Shock at recycle@blacksburg.gov or 540-443-1212.
