Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet 7 p.m. at Aly’s Family Italian Restaurant on 3204 Riner Road. Benefit or Christiansburg Institute The Montgomery Museum of Art & History and Christiansburg Institute, Inc. will host a special benefit event, 5 – 7 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum in downtown Christiansburg. This gathering will commemorate the anniversary of the Truth & Reconciliation Coalition: African American Storyboard Project, a meaningful initiative that debuted the spring of 2021.

Neighborhood meeting for Blacksburg rezoning amendment A rezoning amendment request has been submitted and approved March 11, 2025 that rezoned the property around 801 North Main St., Kabrich Street, Winston Avenue and Progress Street to PR Planned Residential. The rezoning amendment adds the Speedway gas station property at 825 North Main St. to the property development proposal. It includes construction of up to 869 bedrooms. There is a companion request to vacate a town-owned alley and additional right-of-way.

Public input meeting for airport master plan update The Town of Blacksburg, in partnership with transportation consulting firm, Parish and Partners LLC, will hold a public input meeting, 6- 8 p.m. at the BCB Airport Terminal, located at 1601 Research Center Drive, Blacksburg. The meeting will provide information on the progress of an ongoing Airport Master Plan Update and will give participants an opportunity for citizen input. Toms Creek Basin community meeting The Toms Creek Basin Planning team will host a community meeting, 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Blacksburg Community Center to discuss the Toms Creek Basin Planning Study and to present the recommended next steps for the community. Citizens will have the opportunity to hear about the work the study team has completed over the past year and learn about the recommendations for the future of this area. Kids are welcome. Monday, May 26:

Radford City Council meeting The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.

Tuesday, May 27:

Blacksburg Town Council meeting The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.

Christiansburg Town Council meeting Regular town council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Town Hall (100 E. Main St.). The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, with a citizen hearing time reserved at each meeting for residents to bring any matter they desire before the entire council. The meeting will be live streamed to the Town’s YouTube page at www.christiansburg.org/YouTube. Please copy and paste the URL into your browser and be sure to select Live videos to view. Agendas and minutes can be viewed at www.christiansburg.org/agendasandminutes.

On-going:

Radford Fiddle and Banjo Jam at Bee & Butter Bee & Butter restaurant, in the Highlander Hotel on Tyler Ave., is now open on Monday nights during the Radford Fiddle and Banjo Jam. The jam is held at the restaurant 6- 9 p.m. each Monday evening.

New Blacksburg Community Center online survey available The Town of Blacksburg is seeking community feedback, thoughts and ideas on a new Community Center facility. Citizens are invited to be a part of the process. An online survey for this project is now open on Let’s Talk Blacksburg and will be available until May 27. Visit https://letstalkblacksburg.org/ new-blacksburgcommunity-center to learn more, take the survey and ask questions.

Christiansburg Façade Grant application period The Town of Christiansburg is now accepting applications for the 2025 Façade Grant to apply for up to $5,000 in matching grants. This program first started in 2019, completing its first round in 2020, and was designed to improve the streetscape and strengthen relationships with stakeholders in downtown Christiansburg and Cambria. Applications are open through June 30, 2025. Visit christianburg.org for more information on how to apply.
