MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), in partnership with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, proudly celebrated Career and Technical Education (CTE) Signing Days across area high schools during the first two weeks of May. Nearly 200 graduating seniors were recognized for committing to careers in skilled trades, advanced training, military service, and postsecondary education – each representing a vital step toward strengthening the local workforce and economy.

Megan Atkinson, Career & Technical Education and Business Partnership Administrator for Montgomery County Schools said, “As part of a nationwide celebration highlighting the crucial impact of Career and Technical Education in addressing workforce shortages, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) proudly recognized the commitment of approximately 200 students at CTE Signing Days hosted at each of our high schools. These events empower graduating seniors to pursue valuable career paths offering engaging work, good pay, stability, and opportunities for growth, which strengthen our local economy and community. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and the support of Chamber sponsors, whose partnership is invaluable in fostering these opportunities. Ultimately, these Signing Days are a celebration of our students’ dedication and their promising futures in essential skilled trades and advanced training.”

Steve Baffuto, President and CEO of Montgomery Couty Chamber of Commerce said, “At the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, we proudly support Montgomery County Signing Day because we believe celebrating student success is essential to building a strong and resilient local economy. Whether students are committing to colleges, careers, the military, or skilled trades, each pathway represents not only personal achievement—but also the future of our workforce and community. Their dedication, ambition, and choices today help shape the vitality of tomorrow’s economy across the New River Valley. We celebrate these students with the same energy we bring to business milestones, because their wins are our community’s wins. They are the next generation of leaders, innovators, and skilled professionals who will keep our region growing and thriving.”
