Richard Stacy Alley, 90, recently from Luray, but longtime resident of Riner, passed away on Tuesday, October 21. Richard was born July 7, 1935 in Riner. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Irma Alley, as well as his brother Alfred Alley.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alice Halvorson Alley; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Brandi Alley; and grandchildren, Graham and Anna Alley. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Lloyd Halvorson, Greg and Carol Miller and Phil and Karen Bourne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was born and lived most of his life in Riner and growing up on a dairy farm he became a life-long farmer himself. Richard was always known making a good deal which is how he got his nickname “slick”.

A special thank you to the staff at Sentara Hospice and also to special caregivers Diane Cash, Tina Lucas and Cheryl Painter.

A visitation to celebrate his life will be held 12- 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

The Alley family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
