Peggy Martin Woolwine, 98, of Radford, passed away peacefully in her beloved home of 57 years on Nov. 22, 2025.

Peggy was born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, on May 3, 1927, and was the eldest of three children born to Franklin and Olla Martin. From a young age, Peggy loved and cared for her family, especially her younger brothers.

Later in life, Peggy settled in Radford where she married the love of her life, William Ward Woolwine, “Joe.” Together they raised four beautiful boys. Peggy was a devoted wife and mother who worked tirelessly to ensure her family was well cared for.

She retired after many years as a seamstress in a local garment factory and embraced her retirement fully. Peggy always made time for the things she loved most- gardening, reading, cooking, and, above all, her family. She cherished hosting holiday dinners and enjoyed her involvement with the Sunset Village Women’s Club, where she formed lasting friendships and remained active for many years.

In her later years, Peggy faced life with remarkable resilience, maintaining her independence and a quiet fortitude.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Olla and Franklin Martin; her husband, William Ward “Joe” Woolwine; and her son, Robert Lynwood Woolwine “Bobby”.

She is survived by her sons: Steven Ward Woolwine (Debi), Michael Franklin Woolwine (Carolyn), and Joseph Lee Woolwine (Becky).

She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Kelly (Patrick), Kerri Lynn (Jeremy), Catherine, Stevie (Kelly), Jason (Keeley), Jamie (Jessica), and William (Kelsey). She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Peggy’s cherished friend and caregiver, Sandy Flinchum, as well as the compassionate staff at Heartland Hospice Care.

Per Peggy’s request there will be no service.

The Woolwine family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
