CHRISTIANSBURG — For more than five decades, Glenn Cochran has been a trusted State Farm agent serving the Christiansburg community.

Since opening his agency in 1968, Cochran has built a reputation not only for excellent service but also for his unwavering support of employees who serve in the military.

Cody Rush, a Major in the Army Reserve and an employee of Cochran’s agency, recently nominated him for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriotic Employer Award. The award recognizes employers who demonstrate exceptional support for their employees’ military service commitments.

Rush, who served 12 years on active duty before joining the Reserve, including a combat deployment to Iraq in 2017 with the 82nd Airborne Division, says Cochran’s support has made a significant difference.

“Glenn understands the unique challenges of balancing military and civilian careers,” Rush said. “His flexibility and encouragement have allowed me to serve my country without sacrificing my professional growth.”

The ESGR Patriotic Employer Award highlights employers like Cochran who foster a workplace culture that values and supports service members. “It’s an honor to work for someone who truly respects and supports the sacrifices made by those in uniform,” Rush added.

Cochran’s dedication to his employees and community serves as a model for businesses throughout the region. His recognition underscores the important role employers play in supporting the Guard and Reserve.
