Five slices, infinite fun: Try Y’s Pi returns

BLACKSBURG – The YMCA at Virginia Tech invites community members of all ages to celebrate Pi Day at the 5th “Try Y’s Pi” event, a delicious and math-inspired tradition taking place Mar. 14, 2026 (3.14).

Pi Day is recognized worldwide in honor of the mathematical constant π (Pi), representing the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter—approximately 3.14159. Celebrated for its infinite, pattern less digits and its importance in mathematics, Pi Day has become a playful opportunity for math lovers to share their enthusiasm, recite the digits of Pi, and enjoy a slice (or five!) of pie.

This year’s Try Y’s Pi celebration features a special five-slice sampler, showcasing flavors from five local bakeries and small businesses. Each ticket provides one sampler box containing:

Our Daily Bread – Blueberry Apricot Pie slice

Blacksburg Bagel – Orange Pie slice

Next Door Bake Shop – Savory Curry Pie slice

Bull & Bones (Christiansburg) – Chocolate Raspberry Pie slice

YMCA at Virginia Tech Food Truck – Strawberry Peach Pie slice
Tickets are available exclusively at https://vtymca.org/try-ys-pi/. All participants will receive an email on Mar. 13 with instructions on where and how to collect their Pi Day pie sampler on Mar. 14. Pick up your sampler, take it home, and share five delicious slices from five local bakers!
Participants will receive a special voting link to select their favorite pie flavor. Everyone who votes will be entered to win great prizes from local partners.

Every ticket purchased directly supports the five local bakeries and food entrepreneurs and the YMCA at Virginia Tech community outreach and youth programs. By participating, community members enjoy a fun Pi Day celebration while contributing to the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community through education, service, and engagement.
