BLACKSBURG – Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, through the generosity of its
parishioners, is offering two scholarships in 2026 to area high school and college students.
The Luther Memorial Education Endowment Scholarship will award two $1,000
scholarships to high school seniors entering college, university, or technical school in the fall of 2026; or to any student already enrolled in a higher education program. One scholarship is for any student who is a member of an ELCA Lutheran congregation; the other is for any BIPOC (Black, Indigenous Person of Color) student in the Blacksburg community. Application opened Mar. 5 and is due on May 1; funds will be awarded in June, payable directly to the student’s learning institution.
Scholarship applications may be downloaded on the Luther Memorial website,
www.lmlc.org. Applications should be printed, completed and submitted by US mail to the address on the application, by the May 1, 2026 deadline.
“The generosity of our parishioners makes these scholarships possible,” said Reverend Monica Weber, pastor at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. “Scholarships offer the recipient the opportunity to earn an education they might not otherwise have access to, especially in light of federal funding changes and cuts. We encourage all students in the Blacksburg community to apply.”
