SERVICE RATES, FEES AND CHARGES TO BE IMPOSED BY THE MONTGOMERY
REGIONAL SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY
Notice is hereby given of a public hearing to be held on April 16, 2026 at 1:30 pm at the Montgomery
Regional Solid Waste Authority, 555 Authority Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073 concerning MRSWA’s
proposed rates, fees and charges for solid waste and refuse disposal services. Such proposed rates, fees and
charges are as follows:
SOLID WASTE SERVICES
Clean brush, wood & pallets
Construction waste
Dead animals
Industrial waste
Leaves
Municipal solid waste – jurisdictional
Municipal solid waste- commercial
Sludge
White goods/appliances– containing freon
and propane tanks containing propane
Direct Haul – non friable asbestos
Mulch sold to public
Untarped/unsecured loads
Jurisdictions msw clean-up events
Jurisidcitons brush clean-up events
$67.00 per ton ($3.35 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.)
$53.00 per ton ($2.65 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.)
$76.00 per ton ($3.80 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.)

Special waste: Must be of a type allowed by law and acceptable to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste
Authority. Rate charged will be a rate set by the New River Resource Authority plus cost of transportation
and handling.
RECYCLING SERVICES
Tires
$0.20 per pound ($4.00 minimum charge up to 20 pounds)
Single Stream recycling processing fee: $76.00 per ton charge for loads of single stream recyclables unless
contaminated and rejected then the processing fee is $81.00 per ton.
All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing.
