The local chapter of 100+ Women Who Care of the New River Valley (100+ WWC NRV) has donated $10,000 to the member selected organization, Future Economy Collective.

Future Economy Collective (FEC) is a grassroots, community-based, all-volunteer-run, certified 501c3 started and based in southwest Virginia’s New River Valley. FEC focuses on mutual aid, community-building and harm reduction in the NRV.  Regarding the donation, a spokesperson for the organization said, “Being without a physical space for over a year really reduced connection and community.  We committed to renting a new space because we realized how important it was to have a place for groups to gather and organize, but the additional costs of renovations, as well as the increased needs of the community were quickly depleting our finances. It’s hard to get grant funds to pay the rent, but the support from 100+ Women have given us the breathing space to maintain and improve the space while we build additional support from the community, without having to reduce our commitment to providing food and other needed resources.”

Future Economy Collective was presented with their donation from the 100+ WWC NRV on March 1, 2026.

The local chapter of 100+ WWC NRV meets quarterly on the third Tuesday of January, April, July and October.  100+ WWC NRV’s next meeting will be April 21, 2026, at 6:15 pm at Warm Hearth. Committed members donate $100 each quarter and each meeting lasts one hour.

At each 100+ WWC NRV quarterly meeting, three local not-for-profits are drawn from a bucket.  Each organization must have a 100+ WWC NRV sponsor willing to present on its behalf.  After the three presentations, the membership votes on which organization to support at that meeting.

100+ WWC NRV’s membership area includes the counties of Montgomery, Giles, Pulaski, Floyd and the City of Radford.  All interested women are invited to join the 100+ WWC NRV to support local not-for-profits that make the New River Valley a better place to live.  For more information, visit www.100womenwhocarenrv.com or email nrv100wwc@gmail.com.
