BLACKSBURG — In celebration of Earth Day, the YMCA at Virginia Tech invites the community to take part in its annual Clear the Floor and Donate More Event, happening April 24, 25, and 26.
The much‑loved spring tradition combines unbeatable savings, sustainable shopping, and meaningful community impact.
“Join the Y in celebrating Earth Day with our annual Clear the Floor and Donate More Event,” said Ron Ovelgoenner, Director of Thrift Shop Operations. “Shoppers can enjoy our large selection of furniture at the lowest prices of the year while spring‑cleaning for a cause. Every donated item and treasure purchased supports the Y’s outreach efforts for our neighbors across the New River Valley—helping us save, preserve, and give back.”
Shoppers will find a wide selection of gently used furniture and unique thrift treasures, all priced to move as the Thrift Shop makes room for new inventory. At the same time, community members are encouraged to donate clean, usable furniture items, giving them new life while keeping them out of landfills.
Every purchase and donation directly supports the YMCA at Virginia Tech’s outreach programs, helping the Y continue vital services for neighbors throughout the New River Valley. By shopping or donating, participants are not only saving money but also contributing to environmental stewardship and local community well‑being.
The Clear the Floor and Donate More Event is open to the public and takes place at the YMCA at Virginia Tech Thrift Shop.
Thrift Shop hours: Mon. – Fri., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sun., 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Donations accepted: Mon – Sat, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, 12 – 4 p.m.
