A new Fairfield Inn hotel is being planned for Blacksburg, and town council has given their approval for additional parking on an adjacent parcel of land.
The building, which will be located at 1215 Rugby Lane, will be five stories high with 93 rooms with frontage onto Country Club Drive. The new approval is for up to 102 parking spaces. MVF RAJ Hospitality requested the parking under the town’s zoning ordinance.
This past week, council approved the special exception for the additional parking. The town’s planning commission recommended approval earlier in the month.
The number of parking spaces permitted in the front of the building is 17 spaces. A landscaped planting area will be maintained between the parking spaces and the Country Club Drive right-of-way. This planting area will include trees, shrubs and vegetative ground cover sufficient to screen the lot from the public street.
