Virginia Campbell Shaver (V), 67, of Blacksburg, passed in the early morning hours of May 14. V was born in Heidelberg, Germany Feb. 19, 1959, and lived the Army life until her dad’s retirement in 1976. She met Chuck in 1978 and after dating for four years they married and she spent the next 16 years as a devoted Air Force wife and doting mother of her two blessings, Elizabeth (Camp Semba Africa) and Jackson (Lima Oh). Upon Chuck’s retirement from the Air Force, the family relocated to Blacksburg and started a family horse boarding business, while Chuck worked and later retired from Va Tech.
V is preceded in death by her parents, Brigitte and Charlie Campbell, and her siblings, Johnny, Clarence and Charlotte. She leaves behind her husband Chuck, daughter Elizabeth and son Jackson. She also leaves behind three sisters-in-laws, Carol, Sue and Pam Shaver and brother-in-law Chris (wife Erin) as well as a very special friend and aunt Peggy Myers, along with many nieces and nephews.
V loved her family and had a passion for cooking German meals and having family get togethers. She selflessly gave of herself and was no stranger to seeking out those in need.
Virginia will be interred in her family’s cemetery in Cabot Arkansas at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Feeding Southwest Virginia or your favorite charity.
